(Cont'd) When clients begin to talk about their reasons for thier unhappiness, they unknowingly give clues about the source of their difficulties. Clients’ symptoms make sense only in the context of their life-past and present; by their inability to understand and be understood. Therefore they need more than symptomatic relief. Therapy is about change whether it’s a change in attitudes, relationship with love or with work. The task of psychotherapists is to enhance the clients’ problem solving capacities; empowering the client to “discover” the solution to his/her specific problems. Hopefully that generalizes to other situations in life.
