I. Myths about hypnosis (cont'd)
Another myth about hypnosis is that people will forget what happened
while they were in a trance. It is true with a very small percentage
of people who go into very deep levels of trance. Most people
remember everything that occurs in hypnosis. This is actually
beneficial because we need a medium level of trance to accomplish
most of our goals in hypnosis. When you are in a medium level
trance, you will remember everything.
II. What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of inner absorption, concentration
and focused attention. It is like using a magnifying glass to
converge rays of the sun and make them more powerful. We can use
minds more powerfully when they are concentrated and focused.
Learning self-hypnosis allows people to use their potential and
get self-control. Hypnosis is not loss of consciousness, but heightened
awareness turned inward. We use hypnosis to get to the deeper
level of the mind, which then expedites the process of change.
