| I am a
licensed clinical psychologist in professional practice for
over ten years. I received my doctoral degree in clinical psychology
from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 1995.
I am certified in clinical hypnosis by the American Society
of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH). I also have certification in the
Internal Family Systems Model from The Self Leadership Institute.
In my clinical psychology doctoral program, I gained sub-specialization
in cross-cultural psychology.
Over the years in my professional career, I have worked in
varied settings; community mental health centers, domestic
violence centers, child guidance clinics, residential treatment
centers for youth, international research projects, head start
programs, and in-patient psychiatric units. I have also worked
as a program supervisor for a child and adolescent program
at an outpatient community mental health center. I have been
in private practice for over seven years.
I offer complete diagnostic and treatment services for a wide
variety of emotional problems and physical symptoms with emotional
underpinnings. I work extensively with a variety of life problems
including, but not limited to: stress-related pain and illness,
depression, anxiety, phobias, eating disorders, panic disorders,
post-traumatic stress and other dissociative disorders. I
also work with smoking cessation, weight loss, and adjustment
to life transitions. I deal with gender related issues, identity
issues, and social anxiety.
I utilize a variety of treatment modalities including guided
imagery, internal family systems, play therapy, cognitive
therapy, rational-emotive-behavior therapy, clinical hypnosis,
group therapy, sculpting, art therapy, and other experiential
modalities. With experience in marital therapy, I teach communication
skills for the enhancement of interpersonal relationships.
