
Psychotherapy is about change. People seek help when their feelings, thoughts, or behaviors interferes with their day-to-day functioning.
Change in therapy happens by connecting with clients at their level, establishing an alliance, formulating an understanding of their self image and world view and helping them understand their behaviors. In psychological terms its called “insight”. Insight is sight turned inward.
Then the therapist helps clients incorporate that understanding into their personality to bring about change.
