I am a licensed clinical psychologist in professional practice for over
15 years. I received my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the Chicago school of Professional Psychology, with sub-specialization in cross-cultural psychology. I am certified in Clinical Hypnosis from the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis- ASCH. I am trained in the technique of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) by the EMDR institute. I am also trained in the Internal Family Systems Model from the self leadership institute I am in private practice at The Self Empowerment Center, which I established in 2002, in Wheaton, Illinois. I have developed and implemented treatment programs for anxiety and mood disorders, substance abuse, eating disorders and self mutilation in in patient and out patient settings. I have supervised clinical training and taught graduate level psychology students. I believe in utilizing clients’ psychological strengths, basic belief systems, and life experiences as resources to treatment. My treatment approach is direct, interactive, and collaborative. I believe in guiding the clients through the process of treatment, not carrying them. Personally and professionally, I believe that people have the answers to their problems and I facilitate the process of psychotherapy through systematic exploration. I strongly believe that clients’ motivation and involvement in therapy holds the key to a successful outcome.
I offer complete diagnostic and treatment services for a wide variety of emotional problems and physical symptoms with emotional underpinnings. I work extensively with anxiety disorders, stress-related pain and illness such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression, phobias, eating disorders, panic disorders and other dissociative disorders. I offer hypnosis to help with smoking cessation and weight loss.
I utilize a variety of treatment modalities including guided imagery, internal family systems, cognitive therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, clinical hypnosis and group therapy. I work with adolescents and adults in individual and couples' therapy.
